U.S. stocks Wednesday tacked on their strongest gain in weeks, joining a global stock rally after Europe’s top central banker said the market was underestimating the commitment of political leaders to address the euro crisis, and that a few European Central Bank members favored a rate cut.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 148 points, or 1.2%, to 12275, and the euro rose 0.4% to trade briefly above $1.25. The Dow’s gain comes one day after the blue-chip index snapped a four-day losing streak. The Dow is now back in positive territory for the year, and is …
